Dr Laura Fernandes Coelho brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the field of ophthalmology.

Trained in Brazil at the esteemed University of São Paulo, she honed her skills in the largest and most prestigious ophthalmology centre in Latin America. Here, she completed her initial fellowships in glaucoma, cataract, and refractive surgery, laying a strong foundation for her career. Subsequently, Dr Coelho pursued advanced training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she specialised in addressing complex cases involving the cornea, anterior segment, and cataract surgery. Alongside her clinical endeavours, she found fulfilment in mentoring and supervising surgical procedures conducted by registrars, a responsibility she embraced with passion.

Dr Coelho is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and is actively engaged in RANZCO committees and initiatives. She is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Eye Foundation (ANZEF), a not-for-profit organisation improving eye health throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, Dr Coelho maintains a proactive approach to professional development by regularly attending national and international conferences, ensuring she remains abreast of the latest advancements and technologies.
