After advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Dr Fiatarone spent 2 years as a Senior Research Fellow in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and awarded a British Research Foundation Fellowship, gaining experience in liver diseases, therapeutic endoscopy and clinical research in alcohol metabolism.

Dr Fiatarone has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist on the Central Coast since 1991 and was the first Gastroenterologist appointed to Wyong Hospital, setting up both the Endoscopy Unit and Gastroenterology services to the facility.

Dr Fiatarone has maintained a passion for gastroenterology and the delivery of high quality clinical and endoscopic services to the Central Coast community. Dr Fiatarone continues to strive for excellence and quality of healthcare, and maintains a very active role in teaching.

Special interests include therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, clinical hepatology and medical education.
